Windows Vista 5728 x64 install time results are in!

Vista x64 build 5728 has finally been installed, and install time is pretty amazing for the machine on which it is installed. It actually beat out Vista x86 build 5728 by 1 min. "Now thats amazing" 😉

Desktop PC Specs:
Generic AMD 64 Bit machine
AMD Sempron 1.6 GHz
512 MBs of RAM
nVidia Geforce FX 5200 128 MB AGP

Now for the installation results:
Setup: 2 mins
Copying Files: 8 mins
Expanding Files: 19 mins
Installing Features: N/A
Installing Updates: 1 min
Please wait while Windows Vista Prepares to Start for the first time: 2 min
Completing Setup: 8 mins

Total time: 38 mins

Not bad, not bad at all. I have to say, I am satisfied with the installation experience in Windows Vista. Gone are the days of 1 hour installations, the results are inline or better than Windows XP. Hopefully with the release of build 5744 I might see some surprises, I wouldn’t mind seeing some 25 to 30 mins results. :p
